Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a Chandler tradition. The CCA's 24th Annual Mariachi and Folklórico Festival, presented in partnership with C.A.L.L.E de Arizona and Maestra Vanessa Ramirez, creates a music and dance experience rich and vibrant in the history of Mexico.
This year's event features the music of Alan Ponce, Deyra Barrera, Herencia Mexicana Arizona, the energetic ensemble of Mariachi Sonido de Mexico, and the passionate and charismatic all-female group Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas. These outstanding mariachi groups will be accompanied by folklórico dancers from Ballet Folklórico Quetzalli-AZ.

Meeting and guest speakersThe Sun Lakes Democra:c Club (SLDC) will host two engagement opportunities with candidates for the 2024 ballot: Rep. Ruben Gallego, running for US Senate and Dr. Laura Metcalfe, running for Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools.
- US House Rep. Ruben Gallego, Candidate for AZ US Senator Rep. Gallego was first elected in 2010 to public office as an AZ House member. In 2014, he was elected to the US House and is now running to represent AZ in the US Senate. Son of immigrant parents, he was raised by his mother in Chicago. A Marine veteran of the Iraq war and a Harvard graduate, he settled in Phoenix to begin his career in public service. Recently a new father, Rep. Gallego and his family live in South Phoenix.
- Dr. Laura Metcalfe, Candidate for Maricopa County Superintendent of SchoolsDr. Metcalfe has over 20+ years in education in the classroom as well as in school administration. She is currently a Board Member on the East Valley Institute of Technology. Dr. Metcalfe has a BA from ASU and her masters and doctorate in education from Northern Arizona University.
- Jennifer Pawlik, LD 13 AZ House RepresentativeRep. Pawlik will provide updates of the past Legislative session and the expected new session beginning January 2024.
